if it tastes good, don’t eat it.
by Alberto, the guy behind the camera.
Most of the food that tastes good, carries a lot of calories.
So the trick is, do not eat any food that tastes good!
Spit it out!
Easier said than done.
I have struggled with weight all my life and I think my genetics have something to do with it.
No, I am not blaming my genetics for being fat, but I believe that genetics has something to do with it.
I am one of the people who gain weight easily.
Whether it is muscle mass or fat,
You name it,
I gain it.
Quickly too.
Sometimes, I feel like I blow up like a balloon when I open my mouth.
I think I get some of it from my father, as his side of the family tends to be heavier.
I have never seen my mother overweight. Period.
She got it from my grandfather. That side of the family seems to take longer to gain weight or just lose it easily.
No excuses.
My eating habits have a lot to do with it.
When I was younger, I could inhale 2 boxes of pizza by myself, without taking a rescue breath.
I tend to binge eat, even now.
My wife sometimes has to tell me to stop.
Yes, it is that bad.
I know I am not the only one struggling with this,
and that is why I am sharing my story.
The cycles I go through with the number on the scale.
I am proud to say, that I am not overweight the whole calendar year.
Only in some.
Why is this? I don’t know.
Lack of discipline
Lack of mental strength
The stress of being in the medical field
OR there is just too much good food and restaurants around.
At the moment that I’m writing this, my BMI says that I am obese at 31.2.
Do I look obese? Sometimes I feel like I look like I do.
A little bit of body Dysmorphia? maybe.
Or maybe I am just fat.
As you can see in the picture, I have been able to lose weight in the past.
Several times actually.
I was able to reduce my weight from 210 to 168 at one point.
How did I do it?
Weight training and Calorie counting.
In my struggle with the scale,
I noticed that losing weight takes a lot of mental fortitude.
not as much physical stress,
but definitely mental fortitude
Sometimes
it is telling yourself that you are no longer hungry and that you ate enough during the day.
But sometimes it takes more than that.
Sometimes you need more than yourself to get yourself back.
Sometimes you need a personal trainer,
somebody to push you,
and even weight loss drugs to get you started.
I have never hired a personal trainer
but
I learned my way of training from some of them.
The point is people like me, people that read up to this point
need to police themselves and whatever that they put into their mouths.
You can not out work a bad diet!
it is cliche,
but it is the truth.
Eating 4000 calories a day and expecting to lose weight is not realistic.
My weight goes up
it goes down
and goes back up.
Maintaining weight is very hard to do.
But it is a must
because
Obesity is associated with almost every disease complication that we know of.
Obesity is not only a physical health issue but also a mental health issue.
If you are still reading this.
I want you to know that you are not alone.
You are one of us.
One of the normal people
who were born in a body
that gains weight very easily,
It is a struggle
for a lifetime,
but we are here to help.
How?
